In this continuation of 'The Conjuring' and 'Annabelle', demonologists Ed (Patrick Wilson, 'The Phantom of the Opera') and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga, 'Up in the Air') keep the demonic doll Annabelle in a glass case blessed by a priest to keep the malevolent spirit from wreaking more havoc. The inability of the doll to escape its prison eases their minds, so they leave home for a short while, hiring Mary Ellen (Madison Iseman, 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle'), a high school senior and part-time babysitter, to look after their 10-year-old daughter, Judy (Mckenna Grace, 'Gifted'), who has inherited the powerful psychic powers of her mother, whilst they're gone.

Mary Ellen and Judy both know that they are not to enter nor touch the "museum" of artifacts owned by the Warrens but when Mary Ellen's friend Daniela Rios (Katie Sarife, 'Youth & Consquences') visits, unaware of this strict ruling, she opens the door to Annabelle's casing, setting the vicious doll free for the first time in a long time. As Annabelle aggressively resumes her mission to steal somebody's soul through unleashing horrors on those around her, the babysitting job turns into a fight for survival for the three girls.
