Plot
1904, Manchuria. Russia is caught in the middle of a war with Japan and soldiers are dying in a military hospital on the outskirts of a Chinese village. There, the hospital manager Sergey Karenin (Kirill Grebenshchikov, 'Fantom', Porogi') learns that officer and patient Count Aleksey Vronsky (Maksim Matveyev, 'Weekend', 'Trotskiy') is the man that ruined his mother, the late Anna Karenina (Elizaveta Boyarskaya, 'The Admiral', 'Downfall'). Though he doesn't expect the count to answer the questions he has about his mother and her bleak fate, he cannot stop himself from asking about her history. Injured and desperate to process the story he has been carrying inside of him for thirty years, Vronsky begins to tell the tale of the tragic love story he shared with Anna Karenina.
