Plot
'And the Birds Rained Down' is the story of three elderly people who, each with their own hidden motives, have decided to withdraw from the world and move to the forests of Canada.
Originally, only two of the three resided in this Canadian wilderness and their main goal in doing so was to be able to live far away from busy society where nobody would look for them nor, more importantly, find them. One day, a great fire threatens that particular region of Canada and a young photographer shows up on their doorstep looking for survivors to interview.
This photographer is not the only new visitor, however, as another elderly woman is taken to the forest by her nephew to live with the pair. At first, the two original residents are reluctant to open up their homes and hearts to these newcomers but, over time, they grow to care for an accept the elderly woman's presence in their lives. As they attempt to understand one man's story through his paintings, the three uncover an extraordinary connection that unites them all.
This film is directed by Louise Archambault and is based on the novel of the same name by the author Jocelyne Saucier. Amongst its leading actors are veteran performers such as Kenneth Welsh, Marie-Ginette Guay and Gilbert Sicotte.
