Plot
Amal is a French teacher at a high school in Brussels, Belgium. There, she creates a teaching method to educate her students based on fostering a love of reading among young people, promoting tolerance and freedom of speech. However, her new students are not in favour of this method. The students, linked to Islamic extremism, do not accept Amal's teachings, which causes her to stand firm in order to get them into the method and thus improve their attitude. However, things get complicated for the teacher when she discovers that she has to help one of her students, Monia, a shy girl who is isolated from the group and suffers harassment and insults from her classmates who also threaten her due to suspicions about her homosexuality.
The film is directed by Jawad Rhalib, who is also in the script with David Lambert and Chloé Leonil. The film stars Lubna Azabal ('Incendies') as Amal and Kenza Benbouchta ('Two Much for the Job') as the student Monia. The cast is completed by Fabrizio Rongione ('Two Days, One Night') as Nabil, Catherine Salée ('Blue is the Warmest Colour') as the school director and Ethelle Gonzalez-Lardued as Jalila.
