Alma Viva

Salomé is just a young girl, but every years, when summer arrives, she knows exactly what awaits her: a vacation among enormous mountains in Portugal. This summer begins like any other, everything seems normal until a dark event erases the girl's smile: her old grandmother suddenly dies in town. Salomé will try to overcome this loss while listening to her relatives discuss the preparations for the wake and the funeral, however, the girl has more important problems: a ghost is appearing to her that people associate with her grandmother, who was considered as a witch among his acquaintances.

This is the first film by Cristèle Alves Meira, director, screenwriter and actress. Before this film, the Frenchwoman has directed and written four short films, however, with 'Alma Viva' her moment arrives at the helm of a full length Meira does so with a script co-written with Laurent Lunetta, who does have more experience in the feature film. With this film, Cristèle Alves Meira managed to win the award for Best New Director at the Seminci in Valladolid 2022.

Ana Padrão, Jacqueline Corado, Catherine Salée, Duarte Pina, Ester Catalão, Sónia Martins, Martha Quina, Arthur Brigas, Nuno Gil, Valdemar Santos make up the cast led by Lua Michel, the protagonist.
