Aline - The Voice of Love

Sixth feature film as a director by Valérie Lemercier, who also stars in and co-writes the film's screenplay. Film inspired by the life of the famous Canadian singer Céline Dion. Although it is classified as a biopic, Lemercier stressed that it is a purely fictional production that does not represent the real life about Quebecoise diva, she only emulates it, being a kind of Dion fanfic.

The film follows the life of Aline Dieu (Lemercier), the fourteenth daughter and youngest of the Dieu family, born in 1968, daughter of Sylvette (Danielle Fichaud) and Anglomard (Roc LaFortune). The Dieus are a modest family of Catholic origin with a great musical vocation. Aline quickly becomes interested in singing. Already in her teens, her brother Jean-Bobin (Antoine Vézina), seeing that she wants to be a professional singer, he sends a demo to the famous music producer Guy-Claude Kamar (Sylvain Marcel) who is fascinated by Aline's magnificent voice and decides make her a big star.

With the support of her family, Aline will become a pop idol. Already grown up and after winning Eurovision representing Switzerland, Aline will find love with Guy-Claude, who will end up promoting her as one of the great musical icons of the 90s and become the singer of absolute hits like 'All By Myself', 'Because You Loved Me' or 'My Heart Will Go On'. A feature film that seeks to honor the life and work of Céline Dion from the perspective of fiction, made by a great artist fan.

'Aline' obtained ten nominations for the César Awards, including those for best picture, best director and best original screenplay, winning the award for best actress for Lemercier. It was premiered in the Official Selection, out of competition, at the 74th Cannes Film Festival, where it received unanimous applause from the public for five minutes.
