Adults in the Room

The film shows us the reality of Greece in the middle of the financial criss of 2015. Varoufakis, the former Greek finance minister, tries to negotiate for the relationship between his country and the European Union. This caused Europe to burst into flames, and the political, financial and media leadership of the union to come together against the country. The film tells us this story from a different perspective, that of a man completely oblivious to politics who will have to fight with all his might against a system that doesn't care at all for the suffering of the population. Europe is governed by politicians without feelings, and whose only interest in an economic one.

Varoufakis was elected to the Greek parliament in a moment Greece was in a deep crisis. He won gathering the largest number of votes (more than 142 thousand), representing Syriza, and took office in the new government of Alexis Tsipras. Unwilling to sign a "surrender" document concerning Syriza ideas against Europe, Varoufakis chose to resign.

The film is directed by Costa-Gavras. The cast is formed by Valeria Golino, Georges Corraface, Ulrich Tukur and Christos Loulis, among others. It is Costa-Gavras' first feature film that was shot in Greece and it went to 76th Venice International Film Festival.
