Adrift in Soho

Based on novel with the same title published in 1961 by Colin Wilson, 'Adrift in Soho' is set in the popular London quarter Soho in 1959. Harry Preston is a young writer who comes from the provinces of the British capital. For Preston it means a radical change in his life, living in a surrealist quarter, where unconventional people live. While analyzing the places that are new to him, he decides to write about the people who live in Soho, who seems to be part of an avant-garde oasis in a gray and sad City, ends up becoming an intellectual of Soho. It is not complicated, since Preston visits bars, cafes, dark streets full of fog and in all he finds different people with whom he talks and learns new experiences. In one of those meetings, Preston meets actor James Compton-Street, with whom he establishes a friendship. Through the eyes of Preston and the Bolex camera that he brings with him, a secret society of intellectuals is formed that, perhaps unwittingly, will change the social concept, first in the Soho quarter, then in the rest of the city.
