A Real Job

Benjamin is a student studying for a doctorate without a scholarship and is about to start a new school year. Concerned about the lack of prospects for his future, he accepts a teaching position at his high school in Paris and, without training or experience, discovers how hard teaching is in an educational system hampered by a lack of resources.

Nevertheless, Benjamin sets out to rethink his vocation with a little luck and the help of his fellow teachers. Like several of director Thomas Lilti's previous films, 'Los buenos pofesores' dithers with fiction based on reality. But it also explores the dedication people have for a profession that may be their vocation.

In Lilti's own words, "The commitment of caregivers has been at the heart of my work for more than ten years, so I wanted to focus on teachers." How to find meaning in a profession that is increasingly undervalued, impoverished and degraded? Telling the lives of a group of high school teachers came to me out of a desire to observe them in order to better understand what makes their profession special."

Its script is also written by Lilti himself and its cast includes Vincent Lacoste, François Cluzet, Adèle Exarchopoulos, William Lebghil, Louise Bourgoin or Lucie Zhang among others.
