A Philosopher In The Arena

A documentary that approach to the public the figure of the French philosopher and humanist Francis Wolff, who is also a great passionate bullfighting. The filmmakers Aarón Fernández and Jesús Muñóz, interested in this passion of theirs, follow him on a trip through France, Spain, and Mexico, in which they intend to learn about it from a philosophical point of view, and trying to understand why the bullfights are on track to disappear sooner or later. During the trips, the statements and opinions of celebrities, artists, intellectuals and politicians about bullfighting will be captured.

With pretty much lucidity and certain dejection, Francis Wolff faces the decline of the sport with a conversation with the filmmakers that mix great reflections and certain humor and comradeship. The main theme does not end up being the bullfighting itself or a debate about its pros and cons. This trip ends up immersing the viewer in a greater reflection on the current postmodern society located in a globalized world and that approaches a reality that concerns everyone: the inevitable death.
