8 Years

'8 Years' is the story of Jose and David, two boys who decided to break their relationship after spending seven years together. In order to resume the friendship and contact that once united this couple, the young decide to celebrate their "eighth anniversary" on the island of La Palma, in Canary Island, where the spark first arose between them. The two agree to embark on this trip, but with very different goals. Jose, for his part, has not overcome the breakup, and arrives at the "beautiful island" with the partly hope, partly need to return to David. The other of the lovers does not feel that dependence, faithfully following the purpose with which they arrived on the island, the search for friendship. However, this confrontation of priorities will mean that as they discover places they have never seen before, they will also investigate on a journey that is focused above all on self-knowledge.

'8 Years' is the first feature film by JD Alcázar. The author of four short, 'Amor Nazareno' and 'Caminito del olvido' among them, makes the leap to 97 minutes with this autobiographical love story. Carlos Mestanza will be in charge of interpreting David, while his ex-partner Jose will be played by Miguel Diosdado. Alcázar says that the symbiosis of these two actors has been optimal and necessary, to offer us a look of "privileged vouyeurs", in Alcázar`s words, aimed at contemplating what it means, internally, the separation of a long-running relationship by two young men
